South East Civil & Crane was engaged to upgrade and maintain the Blue Waterholes Fire Trail, a designated NSW RFS strategic fire trail, to comply with current NSW RFS Fire Trail Standards and road realignment design requirements.

The project involved the supply, transport, and placement of quarried rock, gravel, and road base materials; vegetation management and corridor clearing; and the design, construction, and maintenance of key trail components including carriageways, culverts, cross banks, mitre drains, spoon drains, and erosion control features.

Our scope also included widening and improving the trail’s surface, repairing and upgrading trail grades and crossfalls, and constructing or restoring passing bays and turnarounds to improve accessibility and emergency response capabilities. Three significant road realignments were completed along public access sections at Magpie Flat, Coolamine Homestead, and Cooleman Mountain, improving both safety and functionality.

All works were delivered with careful consideration for environmentally and culturally sensitive areas, using appropriate controls and methods.

South East Civil & Crane provided all required plant, equipment, personnel, materials, and traffic management to complete the project efficiently and to a high standard.
