As part of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) program, South East Civil & Crane was engaged to undertake critical stormwater infrastructure restoration along the alpine corridor of Guthega Road, following widespread flood damage across Kosciuszko National Park.
The project involved the replacement and repair of 83 damaged culverts, installation of new headwalls, and embankment stabilisation works across 19.4 km of road. Activities included extensive excavation, debris removal, structural pipe replacements, and erosion control measures—all delivered in a remote, high-altitude environment with variable weather conditions.
Works included replacement and realignment of stormwater pipes, installation of headwalls, embankment stabilisation, and full road surface reinstatement.
Beyond construction, we worked closely with the Department of Planning & Environment and DRFA to ensure full compliance with environmental, reporting, and inspection requirements.
This project demonstrated our expertise in remote alpine delivery, stakeholder coordination, and erosion control—restoring vital access and stormwater functionality through efficient, safety-focused execution.
